Born from Real-World Frustration
Hélène Laffitte founded Consulting Quest in 2014 after a career in industrial strategy at Engie — where she spent several years ensuring that construction companies were, in fact, building the things they were paid to build. She then moved into strategy consulting, where she discovered that enterprises were spending enormous sums on consulting firms with roughly the same rigour they applied to ordering office supplies. Nobody was benchmarking anything. Nobody had a process. The market for consulting procurement as a discipline did not exist. She decided that was someone else's problem. Then she decided it was hers.
The idea had originally come from Laurent Thomas — then VP Strategy at Solvay, sitting on Consulting Quest's board, quietly watching Hélène build the company he'd conceived. In 2021, apparently satisfied that it was real, he joined as CTO to build Consource. Some people have good ideas. Laurent waited seven years and then showed up to implement his.
